Milk thistle – a plant species belonging to the aster family.
It originates from the Mediterranean region: southern and southeastern Europe, North Africa, western Asia, and certain regions of Central Asia (India, Pakistan). As an introduced species, it has spread to many regions of the world. Today it grows in the wild outside its original range, as well as in other regions of Africa and Europe, in Australia, New Zealand, North America, and South America.
