< p> Quince (Cydonia oblonga Mill.) is a woody perennial plant of the rose family. This inconspicuous fruit, resembling an apple or pear, probably originates from regions of Asia Minor, Southeast Arabia, Transcaucasia, Iran, or Turkestan; it was most likely brought to Europe; it is sometimes cultivated in Poland.
It is not recommended to eat raw quinces, as they are hard and bitter, and only after heat treatment do they acquire a delicate and exquisite taste with a hint of sweetness. In ancient Greece, considered an aphrodisiac, quince is rich in vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. The high content of vitamin C, which supports immunity, makes this fruit unique, a delicacy simply created to be enjoyed in autumn and winter, its slightly sour and refreshing taste makes it impossible to forget quince even in summer.
Quince fruit is a delicious addition to desserts, teas, and cakes. It also works well as an ingredient or base for jam, syrup, or jelly.
