It has a diastolic effect and reduces the tension of the smooth muscles of the bile ducts, intestines, and urinary tract, counteracts bile stagnation in the gallbladder, allows proper movement of intestinal contents and gas evacuation, affects the trachea, and has an analgesic effect. It has a strong antibacterial effect on the bile ducts and intestines, destroys antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and has a slightly sedative and sweat-inducing effect.
In Poland, mint is one of the most versatile and widely used herbs. Mint infusions are mainly used to treat various digestive tract conditions, gastritis and intestinal rhinitis, acidity, digestive disorders manifested by anorexia, vomiting, nausea, flatulence, abdominal pain, poor fat digestion, abnormal fermentation in the intestines, intestinal colic, intestinal spasms, diarrhea, constipation, and impaired pancreatic function.
