Quinoa Red quinoa 1000g - VIVIO
Quinoa, also known as Peruvian rice, originates from South America and has been valued for centuries for its many health-promoting properties. In the Inca countries, it replaced corn. It can also be used as a successful substitute for rice and potatoes. It is called a pseudocereal. This means that its properties resemble grain, but are not biologically related to it. This plant has gained popularity due to the fact that its seeds are very easy to prepare for consumption. There is an ingredient in the hull (saponins) that gives the beans a bitter taste. Therefore, immediately after harvesting, the seeds are processed to remove the bitterness. Currently, quinoa is also grown in North America and Europe. It comes in several varieties. The most popular are: Kancolla quinoa and blanka de Juni (both have white seeds) and Witulla and Pasancalla (with pinkish-brown seeds and less bitterness). The different types of quinoa differ not only in appearance, but also in ingredients and range of occurrence.
Quinoa is distinguished primarily by its high content of easily digestible protein. It is also a source of vitamins E, A, and B. It provides our body with many valuable minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, and zinc. It is a source of unsaturated fatty acids, flavonoids (especially quercitin and kaempferol), and amino acids (including lysine and methionine). Quinoa also contains large amounts of dietary fiber, which supports the digestive system.
Peruvian rice can help prevent atherosclerosis, thanks to its health-promoting fatty acids, including linolenic and oleic acids. Consuming quinoa seeds also has a positive effect on the skeletal system due to its high calcium content. This is almost 20 times more than in milk! Quinoa also has a positive effect on our nervous and immune systems. Due to its rich antioxidant content, research is currently being conducted into the possibility of using quinoa to prevent cancer. The vitamin E and zinc content of quinoa seeds also makes them suitable for cosmetic use. Quinoa seed extract can be found in lotions, face creams, cleansing gels, and masks.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The taste of red quinoa may not be to everyone's liking. This variety also contains saponins, which are responsible for the bitter aftertaste. However, it is very easy to get rid of them, which is why proper heat treatment is so important. Before cooking, rinse the seeds thoroughly under running water. Then place the quinoa in a saucepan and pour cold water in a ratio of 1:2 (one part porridge to two parts water). If necessary, you can add water during cooking. After 15 minutes of boiling, the seeds should be ready to eat. Then turn off the heat and leave the pan covered until the quinoa absorbs the rest of the water. It should not be poured out because it contains nutrients valuable for health. Red quinoa is perfect for all kinds of salads, as it is significantly crunchier than other varieties. You can also successfully use it to prepare an original cake. Use the recipes below.
