Sunflower is one of the most beautiful cultivated and ornamental plants, with uses as interesting as its visual qualities. In Polish fields, it blooms in mid-summer and decorates flower beds until late autumn. Sunflower seeds are exceptionally crunchy and nutritious
Hulled sunflower is a source of zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, calcium, and iron, among others. Lovers of healthy snacks, vegetarians, and gourmets should particularly consume them, due to their high protein content, which is a source of energy and a muscle-building factor. Sunflower seeds contain a lot of fiber, which helps regulate the digestive system. The seeds are among the products richest in phytosterols, chemical compounds capable of reducing cholesterol levels in the blood. Folic acid, or vitamin B9, is also present in these seeds. Its deficiency can result in the appearance of anemia, for example.
Sunflower seeds can be consumed hulled or added to salads (they are very good especially with chicken or tuna salad), granolas, and breakfast cereals. Don't forget them when making homemade bread. Sunflower seeds can also be roasted in a dry pan.
